and All That is an uproarious and irreverent satire of schoolroom misrememberings that has become one of the best-loved humour titles this side of ‘Broody’ Mary. Its hilarious accounts are guaranteed to drive out all the nonsense you might, however reluctantly, have picked up at school, and replace it with the only kind of history that Price: $ and All That. And All That [Paperback] W.C. Sellar (Author), R.J. Yeatman (Author) The one book that makes me 1066 and all that. book aloud despite having read it often over the by: Walter Carruthers Sellar was a Scottish humourist who wrote for Punch.

He is best known for the book and All That, a tongue-in-cheek guide to "all the history you can remember," which he wrote together with R. Yeatman. Sellar was born at Golspie in Sutherland. He won a scholarship to Fettes College where he was Head Boy in /5.

out of 5 stars and all that. Reviewed in the United States on Ma Verified Purchase. The book was well packed, promptly delivered and had clearly been well used. But I enjoyed rereading the classic again and stlll laughed out loud especially the Henry VIII chapter refences to Katherine the Arrogant and Anne of Cloves.

A /5(6). The authors made the claim that "All the History you can remember is in the Book," and, for most Brits, they were probably right. But it is their own unique interpretation of events that has made the book a classic; an uproarious satire on textbook history and a population's confused recollections of it/5(18).

Description. Sellar and Yeatman’s classic satirical work, And All That, is famous for denouncing King John as a ‘Bad King’. In the authors’ estimation, John had ‘begun badly as a Bad Prince’, and ‘he finally demonstrated his utter incompetence by losing the Crown and all his clothes in the wash’, an allusion to the loss of the royal baggage train during John’s last days.

And All That is a book that has itself become part of our history. The authors made the claim that "All the History you can remember is in the Book" and, for most of us, they were probably right/5(). I have read this little book dozens of times and it never fails to raise a laugh.

It has a magnificently silly take on English history that would instantly appeal to fans of Pythonesque is not necessary to know English history to enjoy And All That, but I have found that the more I learn about it, the more jokes and puns I find in the by: and All That [Paperback] W.C.

Sellar (Author), R.J. Yeatman (Author) The one book that makes me laugh aloud despite having read it often over the years. It promises to be all the history anyone remembers ten years after leaving school (actually my history was like this AT school) but instead it's a glorious romp full of running gags, joke /5().
